On the turning away-ode to an Island

At the most ludicrous of times you start humming off-key low-pitch high-strung too-fast...And Ive found the perfect moment to allow this ink scrawling to take over a song or two.Ironic,and I shan't tell why.

On the turning away
From the pale and downtrodden
And the words they say
Which we wont understand.....Dont accept that whats happening,is just a case of others suffering..
Or youll find that youre joining in
The turning away

------extracted from 'On the turning away',Pink Floyd.

I've built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty,
That none may penetrate
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.

Don't talk of love,But I've heard the words before;
It's sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.

If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.
I touch no one and no one touches me.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain;
And an island never cries.

------extracted from 'I am a Rock',
sung by Simon and Garfunkel

Floydist - Good good. Your life is heading in the right direction. Well done (and by the way - on an island is a david gilmour album, i was under the impression that the siland reference was coming from there - well check it out anyway)
